Kristin Alyssa Nugent, 22, of Clifton, NJ died on Friday, April 29, 2011.Born in Summit, NJ, Kristin resided in Clifton her entire life, attending School #2, Woodrow Wilson Middle School and Clifton High School. Kristin was born with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare, life-threatening and incurable disease that continuously ravaged her extremely fragile skin with painful wounds. Although Kristin endured excruciating pain daily, she never let it impede her zest for living. Less than three weeks before her passing, Kristin fulfilled her lifelong dream of swimming with a dolphin in Grand Cayman. This summer, her final wish to experience the freedom of parasailing will be granted when some of her ashes are to be strewn over the Caribbean Sea.Kristin is survived by her mother and father, Theresa and Michael Evans, her sisters, Katie and Emily, her brother Michael, loving grandparents, Chester and Nina Szostak and her Babci, Winifred Evans, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.Upon her passing Kristin wished to thank the "true friends" and "genuine people" who saw beyond the blistered and scarred fragile skin and knew the beauty of her soul, marvelous intellect, sense of humor and extraordinary bravery, while providing her with companionship, kindness and laughter. As for those who saw Kristin as an oddity or stared with morbid curiosity and failed to realize that she had a heart, mind and spirit, or befriended her out of self-interest to impress others with their social interactions, Kristin offered her prayers.May Kristin's spirit and quintessential smile continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who truly loved and knew her in her too short sojourn on Earth. Arrangements were under the direction of Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst NJ 07071.
