Lawrence John Sofield

Lawrence John Sofield, Sr. age 77 of Lyndhurst, NJ died on March 1, 2006 at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Grace in 1989 and his daughter Barbara Ann in 1959. He is survived by his loving children Larry, Jr and his wife Betty and Karen (Sofield) and her husband David Peselli. His dear sister Dorothy Bauberger and brothers Howard and Jack Sofield also are surviving. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Kevin, Mark, David, Brian and his wife Melissa and great-grandchild Madison. CeeJay and Cody, his dogs, remain also. Mr. Sofield was a US Navy veteran. He was born in Jersey City and lived there until moving to Lyndhurst 51 years ago. Mr. Sofield was a custodian at Washington School and a crossing guard in Lyndhurst. He owned his own business, Lyndhurst Decorators, for 17 years. Mr. Sofield was a member of Amvets Post #20, the AARP, and member for over 40 years of BPOE #1505 all of Lyndhurst. The funeral will be on Saturday at 9am from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home 425 Ridge Rd. Lyndhurst with a 10am Mass at St. Michael's RC Church. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm.
