Leon E. Lejda

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend Leon Edward Lejda, 77, of North Arlington, New Jersey passed away surrounded by his family, on Monday, June 3, 2019 at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Leon was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of the late Leon & Hedwig Lejda (nee Balicki). He was the Shop Steward at Peter A. Frasse in Lyndhurst, Supervisor at All Seasons Movers in Kearny and after retiring delivered parts for Frank's GMC. He was a US Navy Veteran. Leon was an avid Yankee fan and never gave up on "his" Giants. He had a great work ethic and retirement did not come easy to him, as he loved working. Leon will always be known for his grand sense of humor, contagious laugh, and his love for practical jokes; as well as playing the lottery ("pick-its"), hoping to hit the "Big One" one day. Left to honor Leon is his adoring wife of 43 years, Marjorie Lejda (nee O'Mara), his son Leon J. Lejda, who always made him laugh, his "princess" daughter Lynn Luxich & husband Scott, two caring grandsons Kevin & Jack Luxich; his brother Harold Lejda & his wife Carol and several cousins and furry friends Francesca and Gaby. Funeral Friday 9AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10AM Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 4-8PM. Leon always had a soft spot in his heart for children and animals, therefore in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following organizations: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 502 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or Humane Society of Bergen County, 221 Stuyvesant Avenue, Lyndhurst NJ 07071.
