Lucille Durso, Csjp

Sister Lucille, CSJP, 87, died peacefully at Holy Name Medical Center on December 17, 2022. She was born on December 10, 1935 in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, to the late John L. Durso and Jean C. Adair Durso.

Sister Lucille entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace at St. Michael Novitiate, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, on June 29, 1955, and pronounced Final Vows there on August 22, 1960.

Sister had a B.A. in English and a M.A. in Religious Education. As a teacher, Counselor and a co-partner in opening the Academy of Professional Hypnosis, Sister served in various parishes: St. Anne, Fair Lawn, NJ; Holy Rosary, Edgewater, NJ; Mother Evangelista, Rockleigh, NJ; St. Margarets, Little Ferry, NJ; St. Anthonys, Northvale, NJ; Immaculate Heart Academy, Township of Washington, NJ; St. Josephs, Demarest, NJ; Marymount High School, Los Angeles, CA; and Alemany High School, Mission Hills, CA. Sr. Lucille served as Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Peace Care St. Anns, Jersey City, NJ for 25 years. She was a member of at St. Catharines Parish in Glen Rock, NJ.

She is survived by her sister, Joan Viccaro, niece, Lucille Sarno, and nephew, Michael Viccaro.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28th from 1PM - 7 PM in St. Michael Villa, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 29th at St. Catharines Church in Glen Rock at 11AM with visitation prior to the Mass at 10AM.

Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, Shalom Center, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632-2806.
