Luis A Soto

Luis A. Soto, a man known for his loving heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering friendliness, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, in Jersey City, NJ. Born on March 3, 1959, in the Bronx, NY, Luis's zest for life and his commitment to his community marked his 66 years on this earth. Luis graduated from Ferris High School and dedicated his life to serving others. He spent many years as a respected Correctional Officer at the Hudson County Correctional Facility. His dedication to his profession was evident in his active involvement as a PBA Delegate and FOP Member. Luis was also a proud member of the Hudson County Correctional Honor Guard and was honored as the Hudson County Correctional Officer of the Year, a testament to his commitment and integrity. Beyond his professional achievements, Luis was a member of the Blue Knights Biker Club, where he combined his passion for riding motorcycles with his desire for camaraderie and community service. His interests were as varied as they were rich—he was an avid cook, a graceful dancer, and had a golden voice that could light up any room with song. Luis's life was a tapestry woven with love for his family. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Elsie Soto, and their loving daughter, Erica. His legacy continues through his grandsons, Justin and Ayden, who will carry forward his spirit of generosity and joy. Luis is also survived by his sisters, Sylvia and Marilyn, his brother Ritchie, and his beloved nieces and nephews—Melinda, Sophia, Tiffany, Nicky, Mikey, and Serene—along with numerous other nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and humor. Those who knew Luis would say he lived by the adage, "The only way to have a friend is to be one," a quote often attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson. Indeed, he was a friend to many, touching lives with his open heart and always extending a hand of friendship. Luis's presence will be profoundly missed, but his warmth, jokes, and the love he shared will never be forgotten. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of community bonds. As we say farewell to Luis A. Soto, we celebrate the indelible mark he has left in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
