Margaret M. Macdonald

MacDonald, Margaret M. "Peggy" (nee Hoar), 79, of Santa Maria, CA, passed away early Saturday morning, March 28th at the Santa Maria Care Center where she was residing. She was born in Teaneck to the late Edward and Agnes (Kelly) Hoar and grew up in Bogota. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School in Union City. She was married to the late James MacDonald, Jr. and eventually settled in Wood Ridge. She was employed as a clerical worker for several companies while raising her sons James, Kevin and Michael. After a trip with a friend and falling in love with the people and the landscape of California, she moved to Santa Maria in the mid-1990's and had been living there since. She was fond of dancing, being out with friends, all-things Irish and animals, particularly her cats, Lady and Kelly. She is predeceased by her son, Kevin, and by four siblings: Anne Cavallaro, James Howard, Patricia Rushforth, and Agnes Hughes. She is survived by her sons: James, of Hackensack, and Michael, of Lyndhurst; by siblings, Thomas Hoar, of Landing, and Terry McElroy and husband Peter, of Ridgefield Park. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Bogota at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 followed by inurnment of her cremains at Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
