Margherita Cutro, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023, in Freehold, NJ. Born in San Giovanni Gemini, Sicily, Italy on February 16, 1939 to Angelo Romano and Francesca (nee:
Bongiovanni), Margherita lived a life characterized by love, faith, selflessness and passion.
Margherita was a devoted wife to her late husband, Giuseppe Cutro, and a loving mother to her son, Carmen Cutro and his wife Lisa, and daughter, Mary Ann Cutro. She was also a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren, Stephanie Knight, Nadia Cutro, Christian Knight and Dylan Knight, who will remember her fondly for her warmth and kindness and her love for always baking cookies for them.
Margherita was the dear sister of Carmelo Romano and his wife Serafina, Rosalia Lista and her late husband Vito, and Carmela Mastrella and her husband Vincenzo. She was predeceased by her brother Vincenzo Romano and his wife Joan, and her brothers-in-law Illuminato Cutro, Antonio Reina and Vincenzo Barone from Sicily, Italy. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Giuseppina Reina (nee: Cutro), Maria Barone (nee: Cutro) and Teresina Cutro all from Sicily, Italy. Margherita is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, both in the US and in Italy, and many cousins, relatives and friends.
Margherita's family was her world and she was the heart of theirs. Her love for her family was boundless and her dedication to those she cared for was unwavering. She loved to cook, bake and sew and loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Margherita was a talented seamstress in Bayonne, NJ where she lived for many years and later worked as a teacher's aid at a local day care center also in Bayonne.
Those who knew Margherita would describe her as loving, selfless and always smiling. She had a heart that was always ready to give and a spirit that was always ready to serve. She was a devout parishioner at our Lady of Assumption church and her faith truly defined who she was. Margherita's passion was evident in everything she did, her dedication and precision were a reflection of her creativity, diligence and kind heart.
Margherita Cutro will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her legacy of love, kindness and selflessness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we remember Margherita, we celebrate a life well-lived, a love well-given, and a legacy well-left. May her memory continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come.
