Maria Serra

Maria Serra (nee Liardo) died peacefully at the age of 93 on 12/29/2022 in Wayne, NJ. Born in Naples, Italy on November 25, 1929. There is where she met the love of her life, her husband Gennaro. She was a beloved wife, mother, nonna and grand nonni, Maria immigrated to the United States from Naples, Italy in 1966 where she settled with her family in Jersey City, NJ. Before moving to the United States, Maria also lived for many years in Sao Paulo, Brazil with her husband and Family. Maria worked as a seamstress and eventually stayed home to care for her four children. As the beautiful matriarch to the family, Maria loved to sing, dance, cook and bake. She loved her family with her whole heart and her legacy will never be forgotten. Maria is predeceased by her beloved husband, Gennaro Serra and son Tomaso and is reunited with them in eternal peace. She is also predeceased by her parents Emilia (DiMatteo) and Tomaso Liardo, sisters Anna DiScala, Titana Liardo, Carmela Curcio and brother Giovanni Liardo. She is survived by her children, Izilda and Luigi Episcopo, Maria and Pietro Capuano, Louis Serra, Marcia and William Wenzel; grandchildren Joseph E., Maria Rosa, Michael W., Anna, Joseph B, Gennaro, Karla, Nicole, Mike B., Jennifer, Robert, and Eric; and great grand nonna to Gabriella, Julianna, Emma, Mia, Jovanni, Lunella, Zachary, Isabella and Wesley and loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Tuesday 8:45AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 9:45AM Queen of Peace R.C. Church. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum.
