Marie Civita Varsalona
Marie was born on December 19, 1921. She was the second born to a family of 14 children. She was raised in Jersey City, NJ with her parents Carmina and Pasquale Esposito.
Marie was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Frank Varsalona. He was her soulmate and she missed him everyday. As well as her son Michael who left us much too soon, brothers Vito and Butch and sister Ida. I am sure the coffee is on and there is a large meeting in heaven right now with many hugs and kisses that cant be given here on earth.
Marie is survived by her sons Vincent & Lanie, Patrick & Elaine and her daughter Joyce & Rick Madore. She was a loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Ben and Marilyn, Gerald and Pat, Fred, Anthony, Rudy and Susie along with many nieces and nephews.
Marie was a born caregiver to her siblings and later to her family. She was a full time homemaker, always cooking and cleaning. She loved to crochet, read and have tea and cookies with her family. She loved going over her mail. Everything had to be clean and in place. If someone came over, I can still hear her say, “Put the coffee on and get something on the table.”
Marie moved from Jersey City to Lyndhurst and then to Jackson, Nj. She later moved in with her daughter Joyce, Rick and her grandchildren when her loving husband Frank passed. Tina took off from work to be with her special friend, her Grandma. Always calling and caring because of their special bonds. Nick called 3-4 times a day to check in or show up to the hospital because she was so special to him. And Maria, who checked in on her, talked with her to make her feel better and always making sure she was okay. I know she would thank them a million times for their special love.
Our family was with her that special day God called her to him. We held her tight, all together, the way she would have wanted as she went peacefully at home. She knew she was loved and we know how much she loved us. We thank God and are so happy for all of the wonderful memories with her. We know that all our family and friends are affected by this loss and cant mourn appropriately due to the unfortunate timing. We will have a memorial to honor the life of Marie Varsalona at a later date.
