Marie-Jeanne Castadot, a devoted mother, grandmother, and accomplished medical professional, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023, in New Jersey. Born in Belgium, Marie-Jeanne was a woman of immense kindness, creativity, and love.
Marie-Jeanne pursued her passion for medicine at the University of Liege in Belgium, where she specialized in OB-GYN. She furthered her education in the United States at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York, studying Pathology. These academic achievements laid the groundwork for a remarkable career in the medical field. She spent many years working in private practice in Manhattan, where her dedication to her patients was evident in every interaction. Additionally, she served as an Associate at Lenox Hill Hospital. Through her work, she positively impacted countless lives, leaving a legacy of healing and care.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Marie-Jeanne was an individual of many interests and talents. A member of the Arts Student League of New York, she was an avid watercolor painter, often capturing the beauty of life around her in her artwork. Her love for dogs was profound, and she was known to welcome many furry friends into her life over the years.
However, her most cherished role was that of a loving mother and grandmother. Marie-Jeanne is survived by her children; Muriel Tashjian (Craig), Martine Castadot (Peter), and Marc Castadot (Tammy). She was a beloved grandmother to Natalie, Aline, Julian, Danielle, Colette, Madeleine, Gillian, and Joseph. Her love for her family was palpable, and she often expressed it through acts of kindness and tokens of affection.
Marie-Jeanne's life was marked by a strong drive to help others, whether it be through her work as a doctor or in the love she showed her family. The impression she left on her patients, colleagues, friends, and family is a testament to her caring spirit and will continue to inspire those who knew her. In remembering Marie-Jeanne, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, kindness, and creativity. As we mourn her loss, we also remember the joy she brought into our lives and the lasting impact she has made on all of us. Her legacy will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
Visitation will take place at the Brookside Cemetery Chapel at 425 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ on Friday November 10th from 10-11 AM. Burial to follow immediately.
