Day, Marilyn (nee Dygert), 82, of North Caldwell, NJ. In loving memory we announce the passing of Marilyn Day on January 5, 2013. Marilyn was born and raised in the Mohawk Valley region in upstate New York on the family farm. Her humble yet solid beginnings gave her the love and compassion to live a full and rewarding life. Her parents were Velma and Roselle Dygert. Through out her life, Marilyn's selflessness touched all of those around her. From a young girl helping her grandfather, father and brother manage the farm, through marriage and raising her family, she was loving and supportive to all. A graduate of Fort Plain H.S., she raised a family in the Syracuse area and worked as a bookkeeper in the office at the local regional High School for many years. Marilyn moved to New Jersey in the mid 70's and had a wealth of friends and family in her local community. An avid camper and hiker, she enjoyed the out doors and had a special appreciation of nature and the world around her. Nothing pleased her more than to be on the trail and see the animals in their home. She also loved to swim and enjoyed the Adirondack and Pocono Mountains. The family vacations at Golden Beach will always be remembered. Marilyn is survived by her two children daughter Sharilyn Knowles & her husband the late Stephen, son Kevin & his wife Rebecca Day. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeffery Knowles & his wife Laura, Kara Knowles, Corinne and Griffin Day, three great-grandchildren Claleb, Micah and Melody Knowles, her brother Robert Dygert & his wife the late Norma of Nelliston, NY, nephew Ronald Dygert and niece Rebecca Rury. Marilyn is also survived by her long time companion, Donald Meserlian of North Caldwell, NJ, whom the family thanks for all of his love and dedication to Marilyn for many years. A Memorial Service will be held at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, NJ on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 2-4PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parkinson's Foundation 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 (212) 923-4700.
