DeVito, Mario, 87, of Long Branch, passed away on September 25, 2024. Beloved husband of Elena (nee Tornusciolo) DeVito. Loving father of Marialena DeVito. Cherished grandfather of Ernesto Falu & his fiancée Shanea Jones, and Donte Brown. Adored great-grandfather of Jazzlyn & Aliyah Falu. Dear brother-in-law of Anna Insana and Lidia Aversa, and Thomas & his wife Mary Grace Tornusciolo. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews & friends.

Mr. DeVito was born on November 29th, 1936 in Ariano Irpino, Italy. He served in the Italian Army from 1955-1959. Mario married his wife Elena on July 9th, 1961, and migrated to the United States shortly after. He worked as a plumber for many years in Jersey City, and moved to Long Branch in 1977, where he opened the bed & breakfast, Villa Benevento, that he ran together with his wife for over a decade.

Mario loved to fish off the jetties in Long Branch. He was also an avid gardener, and grew a beautiful vegetable garden with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, and beautiful big fig trees. He and Elena loved to go to Atlantic City and play slot machines. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral Monday at 9:30 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Assumption of Our Blessed Lady. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum. Friends will be received Sunday 2-6 PM. Send condolences to stellatofuneralhomes.com
