Mary Demuth

April 26, 1921 — September 7, 2014

Maria (Mary) DeMuth nee Marcos, of Clifton, NJ and most recently of Winston-Salem, NC, passed peacefully September 7, 2014 at the age of 93. Mary was born in Witherbee, NY, April 26, 1921 to Natividad (1986) and Manuel (1932) Marcos. Mary met the love of her life, Harry DeMuth in New Russia, NY when she was a waitress at Harry's parents' restaurant Split Rock Falls Inn. They were married February 22, 1940 and moved to NJ shortly thereafter, settling in Clifton, where they raised their 2 sons. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Harry E. DeMuth (2007) and her dear brother Manuel who died in France during WW II at the age of 18 years (1944). She is survived by her devoted sons and their wives, Harry M. & Joyce DeMuth of Bermuda Run, NC and Robert L. and Sally DeMuth of Wayne, NJ as well as by her loving and caring, dear sister, Amalia Scribner of Clifton, NJ. Mary is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, David S. DeMuth (Kristen), Debra DeMuth, Dana Pugliano (Anthony), Robert L. DeMuth, Jr. (Jennifer) and Timothy J. DeMuth as well as by her 13 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Owen, Olivia and Henry DeMuth, Debra's sons Benjamin, Patrick and Emmitt McGranaghan, Joseph, Daniel and Madeline Pugliano and Natalie, Robert J. and Laurel DeMuth. A memorial celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 11 AM- 12:30 PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, NJ. Mary and Harry's combined ashes will be returned to earth at the place they met and fell in love, Split Rock Falls, New Russia, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mary's name can be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 225 Davie Avenue, Statesville NC 28677, a hospice chapter of your choice or the Alzheimer's Association.
