Mary A. Ring’s zest for life did not come to an end with her passing. Mary, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, just shy of her 92nd birthday. In her last days, Mary was surrounded by her loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives by her great example.
Born September 19,1932, Mary was the daughter of Joseph and Antonette Mottillo. She was raised in Guttenberg with her sister and best friend, Ann [Lombardi]. She graduated from Memorial High School, went into the workforce and eventually met her future husband, Bill, at a bowling alley. Mary & Bill fell in love, married and raised 3 sons, spending the next 45 years in Edgewater. During this time, Mary also found time to earn an Associate Degree from St Peter’s College, while having a successful career at Johns Manville.
One of Mary’s great pleasures was spending quality time with her cherished family and friends at their beach home in Beach Haven West.
After her husband Bill’s passing, Mary, being the strong willed, passionate and independent woman that she was, moved to Hillsdale where she spent the next 25 years of her life.
Devoted to the Lord, she never missed a morning Mass, her rosary or her prayers for anyone in need. She dedicated much of her time to their church, Our Lady of Fatima, along with her husband Bill for many years and the success of that church is a credit to them both. Once in Hillsdale, Mary became a member of St. John the Baptist where she practiced her faith and met many wonderful friends.
As the matriarch of the Ring Family, nothing was more important to her than her family and extended family. She will always be remembered as Mom, Gram, Grandma, Gigi, Aunt, Cousin and Friend.
She is survived by her sister Ann Lombardi (Valley Stream, NY), her sons William and his wife Carol, Dennis (deceased) and his wife Antoinette, Kevin and his wife Lisa, her grandchildren Brittany Desmond and her husband Matt, William, Nichole, Isabella, Sophia, her great-grandchildren Cecilia and Lucas and her many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service Thursday 8:30AM from the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. Funeral Mass Thursday 10AM St. John the Baptist Church, Hillsdale. Friends will be received Wednesday 4-9PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider a donation in her memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
