Maryann Vanoostendorp

MaryAnn (nee Angiouni) VanOostendorp, 86, of Wood Ridge, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Bart VanOostendorp. Loving mother of Bart & his wife Judy VanOostendorp, Kathryn & her husband Daniel McGinty, Maryann VanOostendorp and Robin & her husband Richard Herrera. Cherished grandmother of Candace & her husband Michael Cooper, Amy VanOostendorp, Danielle & her husband Peter Lindner, Gabriella, Rebecca and Evan Herrera. Adored great-grandmother of Delilah, Harrison and Maisie. Mrs. VanOostendorp started her working career as Executive Assistant to Joseph Picone, cofounder of Evan Picone designer clothing line, before becoming a Legal Secretary. She went on to work at the United States Post Office where she began her tenure as Postmaster's Executive Secretary and retired as a Human Resources Specialist. MaryAnn had a love for theater, classical music and entertainment. She often attended Broadway shows and The Metropolitan Opera. She hosted an Opera Club where she was able to share her love for all the Opera has to offer. MaryAnn could be found doing the New York Times crossword puzzle every Sunday, and her avid knowledge of words was shown in her ability to win every Scrabble game she played. She enjoyed Turner Classic Movies and WQXR classic radio. MaryAnn enjoyed playing Mah-Jongg and Bunko. Her spirituality was important to her, as she prayed the rosary daily with the Assumption Prayer Warriors via zoom at 8:30 each morning. She lived in Wood Ridge for many years and had been a member of the Assumption Church choir and a member and past President of the Wood Ridge Womens Club. She had many passions, but the biggest was her love for family which was evident with every hug, kiss, and attempt to smoochy-kiss and pinch the faces of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Well into her mid 80s, “nana” would ride the toddlers around on the seat of her rollator, and the kids adored her. Funeral Tuesday 9AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10:30AM Assumption R.C. Church, Wood Ridge. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
