Mellissa "Carol" DeLorenzo, a devoted teacher, beloved wife, and cherished mother, passed away on January 10, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on September 19, 1944, in Newark, NJ, Carol dedicated her life to educating and nurturing generations of students within the Newark Public School System, where her passion for teaching and deep compassion for her students shone brightly. Carol found so much joy in the classroom and volunteered her time to her students after school using her own money and enthusiasm to create the science club.
She was a pillar of strength for her family and a guiding light in their lives. She is survived by her loving husband, Tony DeLorenzo; her devoted daughter, Melissa Pietras & her husband Tony; her proud son, John DeLorenzo; and her wonderful grandchildren, Michael Weekes and Sarah Pietras. Dear sister of the late John, Fred, William, Marjorie and Alice. Carol's legacy of love and commitment to family and education will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Carol touched the lives of everyone she met and truly saw the good in all humanity. She lived a life full of love, kindness, and wisdom, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family, friends, and students. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her as she was undeniably unconditional love in human form.
Her memory will be honored at a Mass Wednesday 10:30AM St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Interment Glendale Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Rd., Fairfield.
