La Pollo, Michael, 83, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey on July 28, 2015 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family, his loyal aide "Honey", best friend John Forfa and nephew Gio Scardino. Mr. La Pollo was born on August 7, 1931 in Corona Queens, NY to Lucy and Nicholas La Pollo. Beloved husband of the late Loretta (nee Curley) La Pollo. Loving father of Rosemary La Pollo, MaryAnn & her husband John Scardino, Sr., Michele & her husband Kevin Wilczynski, and Nicholas La Pollo. Cherished grandfather of Michele, Joseph, Donald, and Anthony. Dear brother of the late Donald La Pollo and Lucy Ann "Lulu" Scardino. The oldest of three children, Michael was always protective and kept a watchful eye over his siblings, a trait that continued throughout his life. Michael was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving during the Korean War where he earned many medals and was decorated for his participation in combat operations. He fought bravely in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, earning him the distinction of calling himself one of the "Chosin Few", a title he was very proud to hold. Upon leaving the military Michael moved to Lyndhurst where he started a family with his beautiful wife Loretta. Michael, also known as "Mickey" or "Uncle Mickey" to many will be remembered for his intelligence, wit, and his devotion to his family. Funeral Saturday at 9AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Funeral Mass 10AM Sacred Heart Church. Interment Hillside Cemetery. Friends will be received Friday 2-8PM.
