Lieutenant Michael Failace (Ret), 58, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Beloved son of Frank & the late Kathryn Failace. Loving father of Jessica Failace and Michael Failace, Jr. Dear brother of Frank Jr. & his wife Lisa Failace. Michael is survived by loving family and friends.
In times of greatest need, Mike was recognized for his tireless effort, dedication and service. Mike began his law enforcement career with the Bergen County Sheriff’s department. Mike proudly served and became the fabric of the Lyndhurst Police Department where he played a crucial role in strategic crime prevention He was a valued member of the Lyndhurst Police Emergency Response Team. His dedication to his profession led him to shape numerous lives of future law enforcement officers with the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute.
Upon retirement, Mike continued serving the law enforcement community through his beloved podcast, The Suffering Podcast, with dear friend Kevin Donaldson. Those efforts shed light on the dire need for improved mental health support for those officers who have served their communities.
Mike’s devotion to service extended to the Special Olympics. A highlight of his many years with the Special Olympics was carrying the Flame of Hope into the opening ceremonies in the Law Enforcement Torch Run in Seattle Washington.
Mike’s life was all about family, fun and sports. His acumen as a football player led him to Seton Hall Preparatory High School where he developed core values preparing him for his life’s mission. Mike remained a Pony Pirate as a volunteer football coach.
Mike was always the life of the party, known for his humor and storytelling. Mike touched many lives, his sacrifices were endless and a testament to his boundless love, strength and character. Mike etched unforgettable memories in our lives reminding us of the preciousness of life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
