Nelson A Vargas

Nelson “Cheech” Vargas was 58 years old and survived by his six siblings Jose Vargas, Georgina Lopez, Pedro Vargas, Susana Ventura, Rosa Rosario, and Sonia Kuris, as well as his three sons Eric Vargas, Christopher Vargas, Jonathan Vargas, and two grandchildren Joy and Christian Vargas.

He passed away following a courageous battle with cancer at his sister Ginas home in Teaneck, NJ on October 31st . He was born on January 1st 1962 to Albertina Vargas-Ramirez and Pedro Arquimedes Paulino in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He was one of seven children and the youngest of his three brothers. Nelson was known to his siblings to be a very happy, energetic, and athletic child with many hobbies including sports. Nelson and his family later immigrated to the United States in February of 1970 in pursuit of the “American Dream”.

In his teenage years Nelson was even given the nickname “Bruce Lee” for his profound love of karate and his impersonations of the actor. Nelson was a multitalented individual who worked a variety of different jobs ranging from butcher to entrepreneur. Nelson will forever be remembered by his family for his upbeat attitude, compassion, and humbleness amongst others. He was a very selfless person who always prioritized his family and took great pride in forming strong bonds with his loved ones. He was known as a “jokester” and loved to see others smile and laugh on his behalf. He was a genuine person who was able to create strong connections with people of all ages from different walks of life.

He was met at heavens gates by his loving mother Albertina, his father Pedro, and his youngest son Jason.
