Patricia Ann Alfonso (September 15, 1940 – December 10, 2023)
Patricia Ann Alfonso, 83, died on December 10 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Paterson and raised in Newark, Pat worked as an administrator in payroll. She met the absolute love of her life, John, on a blind date, and they married on May 25, 1963. Pat put her career on hold to assume the role as the most loving mom, raising her two children, John, and Lorraine. They spent their life together in Lyndhurst, where Pat resided for 56 years. She returned to the workforce for another 12 years in Accounts Receivable at Delsaco Foods and Whirlpool before leaving to be with her growing family.
Pat is predeceased by her parents Harold and Nicoletta Peare (DeFroscia), and her loving husband of 52 years, John. Pat is survived by her children John and his wife Carolyn of Littleton, Colorado, and Lorraine and her husband Kevin of Ramsey. Pat’s grandchildren, Ryan (Sofia), Nicole, Danielle, Matthew, and Tony, were the light of her life. Her beloved great grandson Leo, and Leo’s baby brother, due in April 2024, brought Pat the utmost joy. She is also survived by her brother Harold Peare and her sister Eileen Reiser (Peare).
Pat was a loyal friend to many, as she perfected the art of listening and exhibited kindness and her gentle nature in every interaction. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were the center of her universe. Affectionately known to them as “Patty Peare,” she had a laugh that was infectious and a smile that lit up every room. Pat always enjoyed laughing at a good joke and was never shy to a witty comeback.
She had a notorious sweet tooth, and standing at a whopping (and generous) five feet tall, she was able to enjoy many “kiddie rides” down the Jersey Shore and in Colorado with her grandchildren. Pat never said no to visiting her grandkids and frequented Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, and Boston, Massachusetts for visits. She adored the Christmas season, where you could often find her decorating her tree or baking an eclectic spread of Christmas goodies, including her famous pepperoni bread and cookie knots. Pat never met a dance floor she didn’t like and will dance her way into Heaven to share many sweet dances with her late husband, and best friend, “Johnny”.
Pat resided in Reflections at Brandywine Living, Mahwah for the past year and a half. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff in Reflections for their tender loving care during this time.
