Piera Giambona

Piera Giambona (nee Vassallo), 83, went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2017 at Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital. She was born in Sferracavallo, Providence of Palermo, Sicily on March 18, 1934. Piera came to America in 1954. She lived in Fairfield, New Jersey for over 30 years. Upon arriving in the US, she worked in a factory for several years before becoming a mother and homemaker. She was an active member of St. Thomas More Church in Fairfield and of the Legion of Mary. Piera is survived by her loving husband Frank of 57 years, beloved mother of Maria, Franco (Jacqlyn), Angela (Robert) Tarquini and the late Enzo. She was also a devoted grandmother of Alecia Piccininni. Piera is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Carmela, Damiano, Agata, Antonino & Nicola. She also had many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday 8-9:45AM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Thomas More R.C. Church. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
