Robert Henry Lubalin

February 28, 1945 — July 29, 2014

Robert H. Lubalin, of North Caldwell, NJ, died peacefully on July 29th at the age of 69 after a year long battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan; sons Jeffrey & wife Jennifer of Fanwood and Andrew & wife Darcie of Fanwood; grandchildren Sylvia, Jolie, Jackson and Kelsie; and his brother Peter & wife Marie of New York City. Robert grew up in Woodmere, Long Island, attended Hewlett High School and enrolled in the Architecture School at Syracuse University, where he received his BA. He completed his architecture degree at City College. Robert began his career at Davis Brody and later moved on to Jacobs Consultancy. where he held the title of Principal. He was highly regarded as an expert in his area of specialization, laboratories and medical buildings, and he consulted on projects all over the world. Robert was working on a project in Kuwait City when the attacks occurred on 9/11. The days he remained stranded there had a profound effect on his religious leanings. After his return he joined the Episcopal Church where he served as Senior Warden of the Vestry and sang in the choir. He was greatly comforted by his religion throughout his ordeal with cancer. Robert was an avid skier and golfer. He was a member of the Manchester Country Club in
Vermont and Hollow Brook Golf Club in Westchester. Robert was truly one of the good guys, loved by those who knew him. A memorial service will be held on a date to be announced.
