Robert Edward Jason

Robert Edward Jason, known affectionately as Bob to his friends and family, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the age of 78 surrounded by family. Born on February 27, 1946, in San Francisco, California, Bob was a man whose kind demeanor, interesting conversations, and passionate spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

His father’s work as a civil service accountant for the US Air Force took their family many places; one of the most impactfulwas the Torrejon Air Base in Madrid where he completed his high school studies. He returned to the US and studied atUniversity of Maryland and ultimately found his way to Grand Island, NY. After a lengthy career with the US Postal Service he retired to Port Charlotte, FL to be closer to his siblings. 

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as walking along the beach in Englewood with Ray Sr and Ray Jr, hisbrother-in-law and nephew. He was a dedicated sports fan of Maryland Terrapin basketball, the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres. He made frequent trips to visit his son in New Jersey and was easy to spot in his shorts and flip-flops at his grandson’s hockey games. 

Bob is survived by his loving family, including his son Michael and wife, Nicole, and his grandchildren, Tyler and Ella; daughter, Heather Jason, and his sister, Mary Lou Magsby. He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Towers and brother Charles Jason Junior and his parents Charles and Mary Lou. 

He was a gentle soul and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his presence. Services will be announced at a later date. The family is forever grateful to the staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care.
