Villanova, Robert P. "Bob", 87, of Fairfield, NJ for 53 years on February 25, 2011 peacefully with his family at his side at St. Claire's Hospital in Denville, NJ. Bob was born on April 9, 1923 in Lyndhurst, NJ to Joseph Villanova and Theresa Pellegrino, the youngest of five. He attended Lyndhurst High School before leaving to enlist in the US Navy, serving in WWII from February 10th, 1943 to January 31st, 1946 as a Boatswain on a converted Aircraft carrier. He married Peggy Barr of Palmyra, NJ on June 26th, 1948. Bob worked as a Garden State Parkway Supervisor for the Essex County Department before retired in 1986 and became a gentleman farmer growing flowers. Bob was a member of the Fairfield Fire Department and VFW Post 7925. He was extremely blessed to have two loves in his life the late Peggy for 49 years and Betty Consiglio for 10 years. Loving father of Steve & his wife Lisa Villanova, Joanna & her husband Jerry Cohen, Jerry Villanova, and Bobby & his wife Donna Villanova. Dear brother of Edie Dabal and the late Lucille Sprague, Rafael Villanova, & Freddy Villanova. Cherished grandfather of Jamie and Katy Cohen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services Tuesday at 9AM at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Rd., Fairfield. Friends will be Monday 4-8PM.
