Ronald H. Carr

Ronald H. Carr, 78, of Fairfield, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015 after a long illness. Beloved husband of 58 years to Victoria Carr (nee Boudjouk). Devoted son of the late Howard & Ruth (nee Wagner) Carr and stepson of the late George Kuhn. Loving father of Ronald H. Carr, Jr. & his wife Annette of Wayne, Karen Wojcik & Justin of Fairfield, and Kevin Carr of Fairfield. Dear brother of George Kuhn, Jr. & his wife Kathleen of Cape Vincent, NY, and Dennis Kuhn & his wife Theresa of Edison, NJ. Cherished grandfather of Marissa, Alexis & Shannon Wojcik, and Annalise & ErinRose Carr all of whom he absolutely adored. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Ronald and Victoria were married in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sandia Base while he was in the service. They moved to Fairfield, New Jersey in 1961. Mr. Carr was in the US Army Special Weapons with the Defense Atomic Support Agency from 1956-1962. He graduated from Rutgers University with a BS degree in May, 1968. He spent 33 years with AT&T as an Overseas Manager of Rates and Tariffs. An avid golfer and member at Water Gap Country Club for over 30 years, he enjoyed his weekly rounds of golf with the "Over the Hill Gang" and his many buddy golf trips to Williamsburg and Myrtle Beach. As a Giants season ticket holder for 48 years, he relished prepping and being behind the grill for his weekly tailgates. He went to three Super Bowls and during his illness most of his conversations were about the Giants and the NFL. The NFL Network and FOX News lost one of their biggest viewers.
Mr. Carr was devoted to the community and to the many special causes he supported, most dear to him being The Arc of Essex County where he was a member since 1969 and served as President from 2002-2006. He held many elected and appointed positions in the town of Fairfield. He was a Fairfield Councilman 1977-1981 & 1989, Council President 1979 & 1981, Fairfield Police Commissioner 1980-1981, Fairfield Fire Commissioner 1977-1981, Council Liaison to the Recreation Commission 1977, Council Liaison to the Industrial Commission 1978-1979, Board of Adjustment 1969-1974, Two Bridges Sewer Authority 1996-2011 holding positions as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary. He was a member of the New Jersey Board of Nursing 2003-2007, the Fairfield Knights of Columbus, the Fairfield Republican Club and the Fairfield Optimist Club serving as President 1987-1988.
Funeral Friday 9 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield. Funeral Mass 10 AM St. Thomas More R.C. Church. Interment George Washington Memorial Park.
