Ronald V. Kavanagh, 80, of Montville, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Ronald was born and raised in Jersey City where he met his beloved wife, Nancy, of 57 years. He graduated from Marist High School in Bayonne and earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Peter’s University. He was the loving father of Joann & her husband James Olensky, Ronald F. Kavanagh, Esq., and Nancy Brun as well as the cherished grandfather of Caitlin, Jaime, Jonah, and Zack and the dear brother of the late Edward and Robert Kavanagh.
Ronald was a Ship Broker for Proship, Ltd. in Manhattan for 27 years before retiring in 2018. He was an active member of his community. He volunteered at the Montville Food Pantry, ushered at St. Pius X Church and was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Knights of Columbus. Ronald was known for his wit, humor, intellect, and jovial personality which brought many laughs to his Saturday Morning Breakfast Club. Above all, he was devoted to his family and will be deeply missed by them.
Visitation will be held at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, on Friday, October 27 from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home. Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Montville. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum in East Hanover. Repast to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montville Kiwanis, PO Box 808, Montville, NJ 07045 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
