Rose Holland, age 101, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Mayo Healthcare in Northfield, Vermont. Rose was born in County Monaghan, Ireland on July 20, 1913, the daughter of Owen & Margaret (Breen) Brennan. She grew up in Ireland and received training as a nurse and was employed for 14 years at Long Grove Hospital in Surrey, Epsom, England. Rose came to the United States in 1948 and in 1949 married Eugene Holland. They lived in New York City until 1963 when they moved to Lyndhurst, NJ. Mr. Holland died in 1988 and Rose came to Vermont to be near family in 2003. She was an active participant in the social, recreational and cultural programs at Mayo Manor while living there. Surviving are three sons, Bernard Holland, Washington, DC, Raymond Holland, Moretown and Edward Holland, Madrid, Spain, seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, William Holland. Cryptside service 10 AM Tuesday, September 30 at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
