Rose M. Schmitt

Rose M. Schmitt aka Rose Schindler, born in Warwick, NY and long time resident of Lyndhurst, NJ died on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 after a long illness. Beloved wife of the late Robert F. Schmitt and "Bill" Schindler, famous midget race car driver. Devoted mother of Doris Lawmaster (Irving, TX) and the late Robert Schindler. Dear sister of Eleanore Prakopcyk (Huntington Station, NY) and Theresa Comer (NYC). She is predeceased by 4 sisters and 7 brothers. Cherished grandmother of 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also survived by 11 nieces & nephews. Rose for many years was an active member and former president of the GFWC Woman's Club of Lyndhurst, the GFWC Woman's Club of Rutherford, sat on the board of the NJ State Federation of Women's Clubs GFWC and was a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross. A talented and accomplished seamstress, Rose designed and sewed gowns as well as clothing for dolls. These dolls were later given to needy children, much to their delight. She also worked for Ma Wooby's Inn in New Jersey as a talented mixologist. Funeral Saturday at 10 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 11 AM Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Cremation private. Friends will be received Friday 5-9 PM.
