Rosemary Sambogna

October 27, 1929 — February 9, 2025

Rosemary Margaret Sambogna (nee Foster), born on October 27, 1929, in Englewood, New Jersey, peacefully passed away in her sleep on February 9, 2025. Daughter of the late Lillian and Michael Foster. Rosemary was raised in Teaneck. Sister of the late Arthur Foster, Michael Foster, Margaret Mckenna, Rita Trotta, and Dorothy Rund.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carl Anthony Sambogna, formerly of Palisades Park, who left us on October 15, 2012.

Rosemary is survived by her loving daughter Mary Hovan and her husband John Hovan, Phyllis Black and her late husband Tyrone Black, and Pompilio John Sambogna and his wife Amy Sommerhalter Sambogna. She was a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren, John Hovan Jr., Prentice Black, Jaime Wisz, Brett David Black, Shauna Black, Courtney Rojas, Blair Posnick, and Brittany Richter. Also survived by her adored 11 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. The warmth and love she shared with her family will be deeply missed.

For many years, Rosemary dedicated herself to her role as a Nursing Assistant at Holy Name Hospital, where her compassionate nature and commitment to caring for others made a lasting impact on those around her. She was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Nicholas Church. Rosemary was very fond of Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, St. Patrick's Day, the Yankees and the Giants. She enjoyed eating hamburgers & desserts, spending time with her kids, dancing, needlepoint, crocheting, staying up late, puzzles, and most of all enjoyed Chocolate!

Rosemary took great pride in her card group with her dear friends the late Margie W., Marian P., Lorraine S., Christine C., and Mary P. They are rockin' it in heaven!

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, located at 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas R.C. Church in Palisades Park. Following the Mass, Rosemary will be entombed at Madonna Cemetery & Mausoleum in Fort Lee at 11:30 AM.

In these moments of reflection, we honor the beautiful life of Rosemary Margaret Sambogna, whose legacy of love and devotion will forever remain in our hearts.
