Slater, Russell D., 58, of Fairfield, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family on July 1, 2011 after fighting a courageous battle against lung cancer. Beloved husband of 33 years to Lynda (nee George). Cherished father of 22 years to Lauren. Dearest son of Geraldine, and the late Russell W. Loving brother of Wayne and Kim, Diane, Karen and Peter, George and Debbie. Devoted Godfather and uncle to Jessica, Kimberly, Christina, Kelly, Katie, Brian, and Kevin. Self-employed as a talented carpenter, Russ also actively spent his time enjoying his boat and fishing. He did not allow this devastating disease to define him--his warm personality, outstanding wit, and positive thoughts were never lost. He deeply appreciated the ongoing support from his family and friends, and the strength of his loving caregivers. Funeral Service Wednesday 11AM at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, NJ. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
