Ruth M. Irwin

Ruth M. Irwin (nee Birge), 94, born and raised in NYC, she moved to Fort Lee (the country) during the war years. Beloved wife of the late Paul (2003). Loving mother of Margaret Anderson, Sarah Volpi and the late Peter (1996). Caring mother-in-law to Leo Volpi, Karon Irwin and the late Donald Anderson. Adored grandmother to Eileen & Donald Anderson, Jeanne McQuaid, Jeffery & James Volpi, and Debbie Causey, stepgrandmother to Kathy Beck and Robert James. Cherished great-grandmother to Dillon, Tyler & Ella McQuaid, and Lyndsey Gordon. She also leaves behind her dear friend and neighbor Elizabeth Yamada. Ruth worked at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for many years. She started out in the hospital gift shop and ended her career in Nurses' Payroll, in 1983. She was also a parishioner at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Fort Lee. Funeral service Thursday at 12 PM at the Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. Interment Brookside Cemetery, Englewood. Friends and family will be received Thursday 10 AM-12 PM.
