Samuel Fontela

Samuel Fontela of Lyndhurst died at home on June 30, 2004. Born in Spain he has lived in Lyndhurst for the past 34 years. A member of the International Longshoremen's Union #1478-2 of Newark, he worked as a longshoreman for 10 years in Port Newark. He is survived by his beloved wife Elvira (nee Gomez). He is the loving father of Joseph Fontela of North Arlington and Mercedes Novoa of Lyndhurst. Also surviving are three grandaughters. The funeral will be on Friday at 8:30 from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home 425 Ridge Rd. Lyndhurst with a 9:30 mass at St. Michael's RC Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm.
