Stephan Goras, Jersey City, NJ 

Stephan Goras, a beloved member of the Jersey City Ukrainian Community, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, He was 72 years old.

Stephan honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he dedicated his career to the PATH, Port Authority Trans Hudson, where he worked as a conductor for 40 years before his retirement in 2012. 

Stephan proudly served as the president of the Jersey City Ukrainian Center for many years and was able to travel back to his family farm in Lviv Ukraine. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Holocaust survivors, Wasyl and Kateryna Goras, and his brothers, Michael -“Zeb” John –“Ohm” Jaroslaw -“Jerry”, Bohdan -“Bobby”, Wasyl -"Willie," and Walter Goras.

Stephan is survived by his loving sister, Catherine De Luca, and her husband, Andrew De Luca. He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews: Michael Goras and his wife Catherine Bove, Nichole Tahmoosh and her husband Christopher Tahmoosh, Andrew De Luca and his wife Katherine De Luca, and Catherine Burton. He also leaves behind his cherished grandnieces and grandnephews: Angela Goras, Michael Goras, Allison Goras, Olivia Tahmoosh, Lauren Tahmoosh, Cara Tahmoosh, Leonardo De Luca, Lorenzo De Luca, and Gavin Burton.

Stephan will be remembered for his sense of humor, always able to deliver a line at just the right moment, his enduring sense of responsibility in caring for his brothers Bobby & Jerry, and his strong work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
