Thomas Berry Cobb, 77, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 9, with his family by his side. He was born on November 4, 1939 in Atlanta, GA to the late Grover & Winnifred (Berry) Cobb. His sister, Joyce May, and brother, Grover Cobb, also preceded him in death. Dr. Cobb graduated from NC State with a PhD in Physics and went on to do postdoctoral research at UNC before joining the Physics Department at Bowling Green State University in 1969, where he taught until 2001. While at Bowling Green State University, he also held the positions of Assistant Dean for Research in the graduate school and Director of the Environmental Studies program. In retirement, he continued to champion environmental causes and also developed a passion for genealogy. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Danielle; his son, Kevin, daughter-in-law Ellen, and their daughter, Mirella; his nieces and nephews, Carol Nidiffer, Angela May-Cross, David May, Grover May, Rusty Cobb, Steve Cobb and their families. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Bowling Green. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Union of Concerned Scientists, or WGTE in Toledo.
