Thomas J Fitzpatrick, 78, of Lyndhurst, NJ passed away on August 22, 2013. Tom was born in Jersey City at Margaret Hague Hospital on March 18, 1935 to Lena Riccardi Fitzpatrick (librarian) and Thomas F Fitzpatrick (attorney). Born and raised in Jersey City, he attended St Peters Prep and Jersey City State College, and studied architecture at Cooper Union in Manhattan. He went on to enjoy a long career of over thirty-five years as an architect in Hudson County and was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He loved to play basketball and played into his fifties until deterred by illness; he was an avid reader and loved the jersey shore (LBI in particular). He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Carol Vander Porten Fitzpatrick; three daughters: Catherine Gabriel, Dianne Ising & husband Harry, Linda Murphy & husband Michael; one grandson, Daniel Blum-Gabriel & wife Jessie; one brother, Alan Fitzpatrick & wife Rosemary; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial service Wednesday 2-4 at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.
