Thomas L. Heffern

Thomas L. Heffern of Lyndhurst, NJ died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic. Born in Kearny, he lived in Lyndhurst for the past 54 years. Mr. Heffern worked at Otis Elevator Co. for 33 years before retiring in 1983. He was a navy veteran of World War II serving on an LST in the Mediteranean. He was a member of the Amvets Post # 20, and the American Legion Barringer Walker LoPinto Post # 139 as well as the AARP # 4319. He is survived by his wife Lydia (nee McCallum) and three sons: Thomas and wife Janet of Toms River, Donald and wife Anne of Wayne, and Bernard and wife Donna of Cliffwood. Also surviving is a brother James Cole and his wife Priscilla. He is the loving grandfather of six grandchildren, Tara, Jenna, Donald, Caitlin, Brian, and Bernard. The funeral will be held on Monday at 10AM from the Ippolito-Stelato Funeral Home 425 Ridge Rd. Lyndhurst with an 11AM Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Kearny. Friends will be received Saturday 7-9PM and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
