Valentina Benda

Benda, Valentina on the morning of December 21, 2017 at the age of 98,
fell asleep in the lord. Valentina and her husband Ted enjoyed
entertaining their friends and traveling the globe. They toured the
Mediterranean, mainland Europe, the former Soviet Union, and many
places in the US. They also treasured the times spent hosting holiday
celebrations for family and friends at their home. Predeceased by her
daughter Marianne and husband of 74 years Ted. She worked for Bankers
Trust, Manhattan, for 20 years. She is survived by her loving family:
son Mark and his wife Carol Lynn, grandchildren Mark Jr. & his wife
Victoria, Craig & his wife Holly and Lara, two great-grandchildren
Valentina & Chloe. Also survived by her younger brother Alexander.
She loved being a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Bayonne
and was an active member of the Ladies Guild until 2015. Valentina
lived in Staten Island for 64 years in the home her and her husband
built. In 2016 she left her home to be closer to her son and family.
Funeral Wednesday 10am from Koch Funeral Home, 691 Avenue C, Bayonne.
Funeral Service Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church 11am. Interment to
follow St. Vladimir Cemetery, Jackson. Visitation Tuesday 4-8pm with
Parastas service to be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers Memorial
contributions to: Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church 98 West 28th
Street, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
