Wilfred Royer

Wilfred Royer, 90, of Bayonne, NJ died at Bayonne Medical Center on September 13, 2014. The son of Omer Joseph Royer and Laura Marie Gallien Royer, he was born in Lynn, MA on July 21, 1924. His was an old French-Canadian family whose ancestor emigrated from France to Quebec in 1659. After graduating St. Jean-Baptiste Catholic Parochial School in Suncook, NH he began working to help support his family. A veteran of the Second World War and the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy for two years and the U.S. Army for nine years, having attained the rank of sergeant. He married Concetta Gloria Cusano Royer in Millburn, NJ on April 28, 1957, and lived in Millburn, Clifton, Toms River, Passaic, and Bayonne. He was employed by De Camp Bus Lines in Montclair, NJ until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church in Bayonne.

He is predeceased by his parents and his wife, and by his brothers Albert Royer, Louis Royer, Ernest Royer, Walter Royer, and Donald Royer, and by his sisters Rena Robichaud and Rita Richards. He is survived by his son, Very Rev. Wilfred S. Royer of Bayonne, his daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Robert De Naples of Rockaway, his grandson, Anthony De Naples of Bradley Beach, his granddaughter Gina De Naples and fianc Anthony Jorge, of Rockaway, his brother Raymond Royer of Fitchburg, MA, and his sister Louise Le Blanc of Westminster, MA.

Viewings are 3-5PM on September 15, 2014 at George J. Koch Funeral Home 691 Avenue C in Bayonne and 7-9PM on September 15, 2014 at Ss. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church in Bayonne. The Funeral Service is 11AM on September 16, 2014 at Ss. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Bridagier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ.
