Bill was born in Jersey City, NJ on May 13th, 1944. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from H. Snyder High School in 1961. He began his career at Morgan Guaranty Trust as a mail room clerk immediately after graduation. Bill took time out to serve his country in the US Navy, spending most of his "hitch" as a radioman at Guantanamo Naval base. He then continued his career at Morgan where he rose to the rank of Asst. Vice President in the Collections Dept. Bill also worked as a tax counselor at H & R Block for several years.
Bill was very active in the Boy Scouts, Hudson Council, performing many roles, starting at troop advisor, to camp counselor on up to camp director at The Rock Hill Boy Scout Reservation. For his time and effort he was given the "Silver Beaver" Award, the highest award given to an adult volunteer for the Boy Scouts. Bill also served as a volunteer docent at The Liberty Science Center, and it remained close to his heart even when he moved to Florida.
Bill suffered through numerous illnesses during the last five years and passed away on July 17th at Mease Countryside Hospital from heart failure. He was predeceased by his parents Helen and William, and brothers Kevin Connelly and Donald Boehm. Bill is survived by his sister Ellen Carreno and brothers Barry and Robert Connelly, and George Boehm, as well as 18 nephews and nieces and numerous grand nephews and nieces. Memorial service Saturday 1PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Friends will be received Saturday 11AM-1PM.
