William "Bill" Vanderhoof

William "Bill" H. Vanderhoof, 82, lifelong resident of Fairfield, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2021. Beloved husband of Margo (nee Hanzlik) Vanderhoof for 53 years. Loving father of Karen & her husband John Garubba and Lisa & her husband Anthony Cerbone. Cherised Pop Pop of Tyler, Adriana, Anthony, and Vincent. Dear brother of Beverly Eckhardt and Richard Vanderhoof. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, & cousins. Mr. Vanderhoof was a graduate of Caldwell High School, Class of 1956. He served in the US Army from 1961-1963. Bill graduated from the New Jersey State Police Academy, Sea Girt in 1965 and went on to serve in the Fairfield Police Department for 33 years. In 1982 he graduated from the FBI National Academy's 130th session in Quantico, VA. He retired from the Fairfield Police Department in 1997 as Chief. Bill had many hobbies including football, baseball, skiing, hunting, and fishing but his real passion was playing golf. After his retirement he could often be found on a golf course. Funeral Blessing Wednesday 11AM St. Thomas More Church. Entombment Gate of Heaven Garden Mausoleum, East Hanover. Friends will be received Tuesday 3 - 7PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield.
