William E Jurcisin

William Jurcisin, 88, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with myasthenia gravis.
William Jurcisin (Willie Jay) beloved husband of 64 years of Audrey (Conroy), loving father, brother, uncle, and friend entered this world on July 3, 1934, to the late Susan (Kasper) and John Jurcisin.
He is survived by his loving children Jeanne Losco and her husband Sabino, John Jurcisin and his wife Doris and Thomas Jurcisin and his wife Ann. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Alicia, Thomas, Isabella, Connor, and Kiley and by his sister Alyce Jurcisin, and many nieces and nephews. He was the loving godfather to his niece Michele (McCarthy).
He was predeceased by his siblings Joseph Jurcisin, John Jurcisin, Ann Jandris, Marie Sweeney, and Eleanor Reynolds.
Bill was employed by the Bayonne Board of Education for 25 years, where his students referred to him as “Mr. Jay”. He started as an elementary teacher at S.A. Roberson School (#7). He later became a guidance counselor at Bayonne High School.
Willie Jay and his brother Johnny Jay entertained many of our local athletes at Gormans Field with the Double A softball league. They were both excellent pitchers with the 50-50 mens club. Willie loved softball and that is where he met his wife Audrey who played for the 50-50 womens club.
After serving in the Army where he was stationed in Japan he returned home and married Audrey.
Bills favorite past time was going to Atlantic City. He loved the Jersey Shore, fishing and crabbing. He also loved playing the lottery everyday.
Funeral Tuesday at 9:30AM from the Caiola Stellato Funeral Home, 691 Avenue C, Bayonne. Funeral Mass 10:30AM St. John Paul II R.C. Church, Bayonne. Interment St Vincent De Paul Cemetery, Stirling, NJ. Friends will be received Monday 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
