William Joseph Maresca

William Joseph Maresca, 86, of Palisades Park, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016. Beloved husband of Doris Maresca (nee Lampert), and the late Virginia Maresca (nee Saracino). Loving father of Scott Maresca, Tara & her husband Michael Lehman, Mark & his wife Roxanne Scrufari, Scott & his wife Katiuska Scrufari, Vincent Scrufari, Gina & her husband Michael Turnbull and the late Julie Sanchez. Caring father-in-law of Donna Maresca. Dear brother of the late Frank Maresca. Cherished grandfather of Vincent Maresca, Tiffany Maresca, Paul William Lehman, Sophia Turnbull and Johanthan Turnbull. Mr. Maresca was born in West New York on September 24, 1929. His parents, Salvatore & Sadie Maresca worked hard to make a good life for their family and he was a devoted son and brother. He went on to pursue his love of education and sports by attaining his college degree from Montclair State College, and his masters in education from Jersey City State College. He began his career in education in Palisades Park where he taught for 35 years, and served as the head baseball coach for Palisades Park High School and led the baseball team to their first State Championship. He also served as the head of the cooperative industrial education department. William was a former Mayor of Palisades Park before resigning in 1995. He served the people of Palisades Park in various positions such as first recreation director, planning board member, councilman for two terms, as well as first recreation director of Bergen County. He was named to the Memorial High School Sports Hall of Fame and also Palisades Park High School Hall of Fame. Funeral Service Saturday 9AM from the Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. Funeral Mass 10AM St. Michael's R.C. Church, Palisades Park. Interment Crest Haven Cemetery, Clifton.
