Yolanda Nelly Pozo

Yolanda Nelly Pozo, a longtime resident of Elizabeth, NJ passed away on January 25, 2021, unexpectedly but peacefully at home.

Yolanda was born in Tulcan, Ecuador in 1951. She graduated from East Side High School in Newark, NJ in 1970. She went on to Kean University and received a Masters degree in education. She was passionate about learning and education and has served as teacher of both Spanish and of English as a Second Language.

Yolanda was an avid reader, enjoyed morning walks, time at the gym, a good scrabble game, and crossword puzzles. She loved coffee, a sweet doughy dessert, a good laugh with family and friends, and a hearty debate on state of affairs. She loved to dance; may she be dancing with the angels. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her father Luis H Pozo; brothers, Humberto Pozo and Chris Pozo; sister, Maria Pozo; nephews, Jason, Rodrigo, Matthew, and Michael.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 29 at the Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington, NJ, and the Rite of Committal will immediately follow.
